Parasite is a three operator FM synthesizer built for texture and sound design rather than the classic FM repertoire. Its distortion stage runs on each voice instead of the output, so a chord keeps its intervals instead of turning to mud. Its random button does not throw a value at every parameter: it works inside the ranges those parameters actually use, so it lands on something usable far more often than random values would.
Full description
Parasite is a dirty FM synthesizer, not another DX7 clone. It is built for textures and sound design, and it can write a full patch on its own.
It has two faces. The Home panel keeps only the controls that decide what the sound is, around a raymarched visualizer driven by the voice itself. Everything else sits behind an Advanced button, and every control on the front page exists there too.
Random generates complete patches. Rather than assigning a random value to each parameter, it works inside the ranges those parameters actually use. Mutate is the same recipe with an amount control: fully open it arrives where Random would, and below that the current patch moves that far towards it. Parameters slide, waveforms jump, and anything locked stays put.
Three operators with customisable harmonics through six algorithms. Three drawable LFOs onto any parameter, including filter cutoff, reverb size and delay time. Three macros on the front page and a Time macro that runs the whole patch slower or faster. A filter, a pitch envelope, a delay and a reverb. Liquid and Rubber, two effects that push the sound towards those materials. A Volume Shaper working as a gater, and a drive and a fold that run per voice.
The factory bank holds 153 presets across eight categories: bass, lead, pluck, keys, pad, texture, drums and FX. Presets can be filtered, favourited, gathered into packs from an online dashboard, and sent to another Parasite user in one click from inside the plug-in.
